I bring people togetherto make better decisionsthat last

How I work

The methods and tools may change with the challenge, but what matters stays the same.

Bring in what is missing

Include the people affected, the people responsible for change and knowledge the usual process may overlook.

Understand what matters

Surface different priorities, assumptions and possibilities before settling on a response.

Decide what happens next

Turn shared understanding into clear choices, responsibilities and practical next steps, then follow through, learn and adjust.

Stories of Pride: Lessons from Success

In 2024, I interviewed 48 people leading change in health and wellbeing across Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, the US and the UK. Their stories revealed seven recurring themes in what helps meaningful work succeed.

Gill Slaughter

A career across boundaries

I have advised Ministers and senior officials, led strategy and public affairs, managed programmes and complex projects, and commissioned work from evidence through to delivery. I have governed in education and worked alongside iwi, clinicians, NGOs, businesses and communities. I am at my best where influence matters more than hierarchy, and where success depends on holding the details together while keeping sight of the wider system.

A different way of paying attention

Away from work, I often have a camera in my hand, noticing energy, connection and stories hiding in plain sight.
